Perforated facade and metal architecture

Discover this perforated architectural facade applied as the exterior skin of the new Aerospace Vocational Training Center in La Rinconada, Seville. The construction of the Integrated Vocational Training Center (CPIFP) and its perforated facade has taken place on a plot of 12.049,30 square meters in La Rinconada, Seville. It has a built area of 10.255 square meters, distributed between a main building and four workshops. The main building has three floors, and it is on the two upper floors that TAS has left its mark with its range of architectural facade profiles. Specifically, it is a perforated facade made with the Dragonera facade profile. The perforated metal facade and its versatility The purpose of installing this folded and micro-perforated sheet cladding is to add an additional layer to the building’s envelope, providing greater insulating protection against extreme temperatures without sacrificing aesthetics and natural lighting. In this way, the application of this type of architectural facade profile adds added value to the building’s architecture, making it a reference in terms of aesthetics without sacrificing a functional and practical solution. Perforated facade design As mentioned earlier, for this project, the Dragonera Facade Profile – Scale 2 and Scale 3 have been applied, manufactured in galvanized steel sheet with R5T7 micro-perforations and double-sided post-coating in RAL 9006 color. For this building, over 500 square meters of the Dragonera Facade Profile have been manufactured and supplied to cover the entire upper part of the facade, serving as a parapet between the windows and the exterior. The asymmetric serrated effect has been achieved thanks to the symmetry of this profile, and a customized design of the facade has been implemented. In this way, Scale 2 has been combined with Scale 3 of the Dragonera Profile, placing them randomly to achieve a unique envelope. Due to TAS’s production process, which is based on the individual cutting, folding, and punching of each sheet, this custom facade design has been successfully manufactured and delivered by TAS without posing a major challenge to the technical department or the factory. Similarly, the corners of the building have been easily resolved thanks to the adaptability and malleability of folded steel. In this case, the geometry of the Dragonera Profile allows for a perfect fit to cover the corner and maintain the same aesthetic throughout the entire facade. Design metal sheet for facades

The design metal sheet for facades represent a versatile and aesthetic option that is progressively gaining greater popularity in the field of modern architecture. Traditionally, this type of material has been used for facades of industrial buildings, although there are now numerous cases where design metal sheet for facades are applied in residential, commercial, or even iconic buildings. This trend is gradually becoming noticeable in Spain, while in other European countries such as France or Belgium, it has been a predominantly used option for years. Versatile solution for facades. The versatility of this solution applied to facades lies not only in the fact that they can be manufactured in a wide variety of metals such as steel, aluminum, zinc, or stainless steel but also because their manufacturing process allows adapting the solution to each project and achieving anything from simple geometric lines to more complex designs. The possibilities are almost infinite to achieve a unique facade. Design metal sheet for facades or architectural profiles go beyond aesthetics, considering aspects such as durability, sustainability, and adaptability to different architectural styles: Flexibility in facade design. This design flexibility allows architecture and design professionals to experiment with aesthetics, adapt to current trends, and create unique solutions that reflect the identity of the building. In this regard, we have recently launched our Mallorca Evolution Profile range, which allows modulating the number of folds and their height to achieve personalized and unique designs. Perforated sheets for facades. Another feature that design metal sheet for facades can accommodate is perforation. In this regard, we are capable of manufacturing facade profiles with a wide variety of perforations (R3T5, R5T7, R18T48, R4T8, R4T2…) and even combining parts of the same sheet with and without perforation or random perforations. Design metal sheet for facade rehabilitation. A significant advantage of design metal sheet for facades is that they can be used for the rehabilitation of building facades with minimal impact on construction and at an affordable cost. Thanks to their adaptability and a wide range of colors, they can be seamlessly incorporated into modern architecture to add a touch of modernity or used innovative in the restoration of old buildings to blend the classic with the modern. The installation of architectural facade profiles is very efficient, safe, and fast. Furthermore, due to the lightweight nature of the sheet compared to other materials used for facade cladding, the added weight to the building structure is minimal, significantly facilitating its transportation and handling. This streamlines the construction process and reduces associated labor costs. Design metal sheet for ventilated facades. As mentioned earlier, the sheets or architectural profiles manufactured by TAS can also be applied in the construction of ventilated facades. This type of solution not only adds a visual impact to a facade but also significantly improves the thermal properties of the building. This will result in an additional benefit when it comes to maintaining comfortable indoor temperatures and reducing energy consumption associated with air conditioning. Zinc envelope – Mayoral logistic center

Discover all the details of the envelope of this industrial building with over 13.500m2 of facade, resolved with ElZinc® Bilacado from Asturiana de Laminados and the Cabrera profile from TAS. This building is the new logistics center for the children’s clothing brand Mayoral. Located in Málaga, it spans over 15.600 m2 and has a facade height of 20 meters. Details of the exterior envelope. The exterior envelope of this building has been constructed with the Cabrera profile. Specifically, over 2.000 pieces of Cabrera profile ElZinc® Bilacado with a thickness of 0.7 mm, coated on both sides in RAL 9016 color, and microperforated R2T4 have been manufactured. Tailored suit for a unique envelope. This project has demanded a high level of involvement from our technical department as a ‘tailored suit’ has been created for the envelope. In this regard, each piece of the Cabrera profile has been custom-made one by one, taking into account the inclination and curvature of each section of the facade for an optimal fit. While zinc is a resilient and durable metal, at TAS, all necessary precautions are always taken during the manufacturing of each profile, as well as in its packaging, to prevent any kind of damage or incidents. For this project, each package of manufactured profiles was delivered in a pallet container directly to the construction site for facade installation. The manufacturing and supply of materials for this project spanned a period of approximately 9 months. Throughout this time, close collaboration between the installation team and our commercial and production departments has been essential to meet all project milestones and work hand in hand with our client at every phase. The envelope, constructed with corrugated zinc sheeting using the Cabrera profile, has been fixed onto a curved metal structure to achieve a wavy effect. Simultaneously, this structure has been attached to S355 steel tubular profiles applied as three-dimensional trusses along the entire perimeter and structure of the building. According to the project’s responsible technical office, CEMOSA, approximately 1,500 tons of steel have been used for the construction of the entire structure. Interior envelope. On the other hand, the internal skin of the building has been resolved with 9,000 m2 of translucent polycarbonate panels in white. Thanks to the R2T4 microperforation of the installed facade profile, it provides a significant amount of natural light to the interior of the building. This unique combination of the interior and exterior cladding of the building allows for an excellent and sustainable architectural solution, as it will reduce energy consumption for lighting the facilities. In terms of sustainability, this building has been conceived following the principles of the circular economy, as the majority of materials used in its construction – steel, zinc, and polycarbonate – are 100% recyclable. Did you know that proximity to sea affects the selection of the metal to be used for your metallic facade?

Discover in this post what type of paint your metallic facade should have That’s how it is! As you already know, the salinity of the sea is very aggressive against most of the materials that are used. At TAS we know how important this is and when to use solutions that are prepared for these circumstances and that guarantee the maximum durability of your metallic facade. What distance from the sea is considered a marine environment? Specifically, it is considered that the sea factor should be taken into account for buildings that are between 12 and 15 kilometers away from the marine environment. If this recommendation is not taken into account, it is likely that you will have to completely restore or change your facade after a few years, with the cost and hassle that this entails. That is why when we talk about marine environments, we must use steel that starts from Granite HDX® coils. These coils incorporate a 55 µm paint system and have excellent durability and extra resistance to corrosion. To give us an idea, the ordinary pre-coated coils that are normally used have about 23 µm of paint. Therefore, we are talking about more than double the amount of paint to effectively have this protection. At TAS, we have been working with this type of material for more than 15 years. In addition, we have recently manufactured an architectural aluminum profile for a project located near the sea, for which a 10-year guarantee on the facade has been granted. Customized manufacturing of metallic facade | Real success story | Decorative metal sheet |

How far do you think we can go to meet the demands of our customers in the manufacture of customized decorative sheets for metallic facades? We recently received a query about our Menorca profile, as it was the architectural profile chosen for a decorative border on the main facade of a residential building. Both the owner and the installer were convinced that the Menorca Profile was adequate and would offer an ideal construction solution. However, it was decided that they wanted to overlap or tongue and groove one with the other to give it a greater appearance of continuity and try to hide the cut between one profile and another. After receiving this query, our technical department got down to work in collaboration with the factory to see the feasibility of this request of customized metallic facade. After several tests, it was concluded that since each of the folds of this profile had a 90º opening, it was simply not possible to “splice” one profile onto another. So, it was tried to manufacture the profile with a slightly more open fold up to 100º but keeping both the useful width and its technical characteristics. On this occasion, the tests were successful and it was possible to verify how, now, one profile could overlap another to achieve the desired effect. This is how the creation of this new modified Menorca Profile or Menorca M Profile originated. An ideal architectural profile to create decorative borders on facades as long as necessary, and which has notable technical characteristics and an extraordinary visual appearance and finish. So far one more example of how we strive every day at TAS to focus on our clients and offer real and fast solutions. If you would like more information about our standard range of architectural facade profiles, do not hesitate to enter the following link. If, on the contrary, your project requires a custom-made profile, send us details of it so that we can study it and we can give you both a price and a term. 3 Relevant aspects to achive the ideal metallic ventilated facade

If you have come this far, you probably know what a ventilated facade consists of. However, we will start by reviewing the concept: The metallic ventilated facade is an increasingly used constructive solution whose ultimate goal is the elimination of the thermal bridge to generate excellent insulation between the external conditions and the interior of the building. In such a way that it is made up of two layers (insulation and lining) that form an air chamber between these two and that make it possible to break the thermal bridge. The metallic ventilated facade is a great solution against extreme temperatures The ventilated facade tends to be used in places where high temperatures are reached for obvious insulation reasons. However, it is important to note that a metallic ventilated facade is an optimal solution in the same way to combat low temperatures. This is so since its insulation layer retains the heat from the interior of the building and its own design helps to accumulate this heat, with its corresponding energy savings. Metallic ventilated facade yes, but what metal can be used? Undoubtedly, a question that must be asked when looking for the best solution. In this post, we will consider options for the most demanded metals in the world of facades: Steel: noble metal most used in construction due to its great benefits and its cheaper price compared to other metals. Aluminum: light, resistant and long-lasting, although its price is somewhat higher. Zinc: It can last more than 100 years installed without losing its properties and has a very different appearance from other metals. This metal is one of the most expensive in terms of metals used in construction but there is not doubt that it is worthy. What insulation can be used? Once the exterior coating has been clarified, it is time to talk about the insulation to be used for the construction of a ventilated facade. For a metallic ventilated facade, in most cases one of the following solutions is usually chosen: Rock wool: has a great behavior with respect to fire Polyurethane foam: it has a very low thermal conductivity, which makes it the best insulator although it is more vulnerable in the event of a fire. Design and customization of your metallic ventilated facade One of the properties of metal is how easy it is to manipulate it, transform it and, ultimately, give it the appearance that best suits us in each case. Any of the metals described above can be transformed with the desired colors and geometry. For this reason, it is important to consider what aspect we want our facade to have; if we want a modern and unique facade or a classic but elegant one. If you want to customize your metallic ventilated facade or give it a special look, count on us!

Folded metal sheet for facades: Elegance and Resistance in Architecture

Learn about all the benefits of using folded metal sheets to cover and give character to the facade of a building. Folded sheet metal for facades is a material used for facade cladding due to its elegance, versatility and resistance. The bending technique of the metal – whether steel, aluminum, or zinc to name a few examples – creates an attractive visual effect and provides a durable solution for exterior cladding. In this article, we will explore the features, benefits, and applications of folded sheet metal applied to architectural facades. Characteristics of the folded metal sheet for facades The folded sheet metal usually comes in most cases from coils that are unrolled and cut to the length and width necessary for the project in question. Once the sheets are cut from the coil, they are ready to be perforated if necessary, or directly bended. The folds are made in special machines designed for this function called “folders”. In this sense, there are manual folding machines that work in a single direction and automatic folding machines that are capable of folding on both sides, which makes the folding process much easier and faster. The process of generating folds in the sheet to varying degrees and at varying distances from one another creates a visually appealing geometry and texture. Furthermore, these folds not only add an aesthetic element to the facade, but also increase the rigidity and strength of the material. Benefits of folded sheet metal for facades: Sleek and modern aesthetics: The pleat pattern in the sheet metal provides a distinctive and contemporary look to the building’s facade. The variety of shapes and sizes of folds allows the creation of unique and personalized designs, adapted to architectural tastes and needs. Durability and resistance: Metal is a highly resistant and durable material, capable of withstanding adverse weather conditions and resisting corrosion. Folded steel or aluminum sheet metal retains these properties well, ensuring the longevity and reduced maintenance of the exterior cladding. Versatility in design: Folded sheet metal can be used in a variety of facade applications, including commercial, residential and public building cladding. Its flexibility allows it to adapt to different shapes and architectural geometries, creating a dynamic and attractive appearance. Energy efficiency: By combining the folded sheet metal with insulating materials, the energy efficiency of the building is improved by increasing thermal insulation. This contributes to reduce the expense and energy in the interior conditioning of the building. At TAS we are experts with more than 15 years of experience in sheet metal folding. We are capable of folding metal sheets with a length of up to 8 meters and a thickness of 6 mm. We work a wide range of metals such as: Steel Aluminum Zinc corten steel Stainless steel Hot Rolled Steel TPO laminate Do you need a customized metal solution tailored to your project?
