Did you know that proximity to sea affects the selection of the metal to be used for your metallic facade?

Discover in this post what type of paint your metallic facade should have

That’s how it is! As you already know, the salinity of the sea is very aggressive against most of the materials that are used. At TAS we know how important this is and when to use solutions that are prepared for these circumstances and that guarantee the maximum durability of your metallic facade.

What distance from the sea is considered a marine environment?

Specifically, it is considered that the sea factor should be taken into account for buildings that are between 12 and 15 kilometers away from the marine environment. If this recommendation is not taken into account, it is likely that you will have to completely restore or change your facade after a few years, with the cost and hassle that this entails.

That is why when we talk about marine environments, we must use steel that starts from Granite HDX® coils. These coils incorporate a 55 µm paint system and have excellent durability and extra resistance to corrosion.

To give us an idea, the ordinary pre-coated coils that are normally used have about 23 µm of paint. Therefore, we are talking about more than double the amount of paint to effectively have this protection.

At TAS, we have been working with this type of material for more than 15 years. In addition, we have recently manufactured an architectural aluminum profile for a project located near the sea, for which a 10-year guarantee on the facade has been granted. You can learn more about this project here.
